Tyler, TX – A former Regions Bank employee has been arrested for allegedly stealing from an elderly woman with dementia.
James Dale Turner, a bank employee in Tyler, was booked into the Smith County Jail on August 15 for exploitation of a child, elderly, or disabled person. Authorities say Turner admitted to printing cashier’s checks from the victim’s account and depositing them into his own. Evidence shows five transactions totaling $3,812 occurred between May and June 2025.
During the investigation, Turner reportedly told detectives he was aware the victim had not authorized the transactions and admitted he knew she suffered from dementia. Turner also acknowledged being in bankruptcy at the time and described his actions as a “terrible decision.”
Turner previously worked as a teller and assisted customers in opening accounts. The investigation remains under review.
