The Marshall Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has recovered stolen property and cleared several burglary cases following the August 14 armed robbery arrest of a juvenile suspect.
On August 14, patrol officers responded after a victim reported being robbed at gunpoint while attempting to sell shoes through Facebook Marketplace. Officers located the juvenile suspect, recovered a firearm and stolen property, and transported the suspect to the Willoughby Detention Center.
A follow-up investigation by the CID linked the suspect to nine burglaries and two thefts of firearms. Some of the stolen property has been recovered and returned to its rightful owners.
In addition to the juvenile already in custody, detectives have identified a second juvenile suspect connected to the burglaries. Charges are pending.
“The diligent work of our Criminal Investigation Division shows how one case can connect to many others,” said Marshall Police Chief Cliff Carruth. “This case offers an example of the importance of persistence and teamwork in solving crimes. These efforts meant property has been returned to these citizens.”
The department thanked the community for assisting investigators and noted that ongoing coordination between patrol, CID, and local partners continues to strengthen public safety in Marshall.
