Sherman Man Arrested After Armed Standoff, Accused of Forcing Family Out at Gunpoint

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 10:15 a.m., Sherman Police Dispatch received a call from a man reporting that his father, 49-year-old Shannon Dean, had pointed a firearm at him and fired a shot. The caller said Dean then forced his entire family, including a young child, out of their home at gunpoint, while remaining inside.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of East Vietnam Veterans Parkway, where Dean initially refused to come outside. A brief standoff followed before he exited the residence and was taken into custody without injury.

Dean was interviewed at the Sherman Police Department, and a search warrant executed at the home yielded multiple pieces of evidence supporting the allegations. He was arrested on four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked into the Grayson County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
