Sherman Police Shoot Aggressive Dog After 74-Year-Old Victim Attacked

SHERMAN, Texas – On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 6:11 p.m., Sherman Dispatch received multiple calls reporting a person being attacked by a dog on the 1900 block of North Crockett Street.

Officers arriving on scene encountered two aggressive, loose dogs attempting to bite them. The animals continued to charge officers as EMS treated the 74-year-old victim, who sustained multiple bites and was transported to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

After several attempts to subdue the dogs using less-lethal methods failed, a Sherman Police officer fired three rounds, striking one of the dogs. The injured dog was unable to be treated and was humanely euthanized by Animal Services, who took custody of both animals.
