PARIS, Texas – On August 7, Paris Police officers responded to the 800 block of Fitzhugh Avenue for a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the alleged victim, who reported that her boyfriend, 48-year-old Anthony Eugene Barbaria, had used a homemade stun gun on her during an altercation. Officers located the device in the bedroom, described as being made from a battery, a switch, and copper wires.
During the investigation, police also discovered illegal drugs in Barbaria’s possession. He denied the assault occurred.
Barbaria was taken into custody without incident and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B under 1 gram. His bond was set at $5,000.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice placed a hold for Violation of Parole, and Barbaria remains in custody at the Lamar County Jail.
