A 22-year-old mother from Tyler was arrested Wednesday after allegedly leaving her 8-week-old baby alone in a vehicle for over an hour while she attended an eye doctor appointment.
Tyler police identified the woman as Adasia Henderson, who is charged with endangering a child.
According to Tyler Police Department spokesman Lt. Andy Erbaugh, Henderson told employees at the eye clinic she needed to check on the baby she had left in the vehicle. Staff reported that the infant had been in the car for more than an hour and called police after Henderson went outside.
When officers arrived, Henderson was found feeding the baby with a bottle. Erbaugh stated that Henderson told officers she planned to check on the baby periodically throughout her appointment.
