FANNIN COUNTY, TX – A multi-agency high-speed chase that began in Bonham ended near the Fannin/Lamar County line on Tuesday with a suspect surrendering after a brief standoff. The suspect, who was reportedly waving a firearm from his vehicle, was believed to have been involved in a family violence incident.
The pursuit began after the Bonham Police Department initiated a traffic stop. The suspect fled down Silo Road, and Fannin County Sheriff's Deputies and a Texas DPS State Trooper joined the chase. The suspect's vehicle traveled along State Highway 56 before it collided with a Fannin County Constable vehicle, disabling both.
The suspect then exited his vehicle with a firearm and engaged in a brief standoff with law enforcement before surrendering. Two individuals from the Precinct 3 Constable's office and the suspect sustained minor injuries and were treated by medical staff.
The Fannin County Sheriff's Office, which is conducting an ongoing investigation, thanked the Bonham Police, Texas DPS, Honey Grove Police, Precinct 1 and 3 Constable’s Offices, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, and Allegiance EMS for their assistance. Additional information is limited at this time.
