HARRISON COUNTY, TX — On Saturday night, July 26, a motorist alerted authorities after spotting a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Interstate 20. The vehicle was first reported going eastbound in the westbound lanes near mile marker 597.
A Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputy located the vehicle near mile marker 604 traveling in the inside westbound lane and attempted to initiate a stop with emergency lights. The vehicle continued eastbound toward oncoming traffic before eventually stopping in the median near the FM 450 overpass.
The driver, identified as 30-year-old Brendali Lopez of Longview, was the sole occupant. Deputies conducted a Standardized Field Sobriety Test and determined Lopez showed signs of intoxication. She refused to provide a voluntary blood sample, prompting deputies to obtain a search warrant for a mandatory blood draw at a local hospital.
Lopez was subsequently transported to the Harrison County Jail and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Deadly Conduct.
