Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Over 2 Pounds of Meth in Van Zandt County

Officers involved and Suspect Aaron Chad Sales

On July 9, 2025, the Van Zandt County Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop that led to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of a large quantity of methamphetamine.

During the stop, a team member developed reasonable suspicion of criminal activity. After the driver, identified as Aaron Chad Sales, denied consent for a vehicle search, K9 Hania from the Wills Point Police Department was deployed to conduct an open-air sniff. K9 Hania alerted to the presence of narcotics.

A probable cause search of the vehicle followed, during which officers discovered a plastic shopping bag containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. The substance weighed approximately 2.2 pounds.

Sales was taken into custody and transported to the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office for booking. The investigation remains ongoing.
