On Friday, July 11th, 28-year-old Marcus Donte Moore was arrested by Marshall Police in connection with a theft that occurred during an active apartment fire on Paula Street.
According to Marshall Fire Chief David Rainwater, equipment was stolen while firefighters were working to extinguish the blaze. Despite the interference, the fire was contained without injury, aided by functioning smoke detectors.
Moore was taken into custody and booked into the Harrison County Jail. He faces multiple charges including Theft of Property valued between $750 and $2,500, Interference with Public Duties, Failure to Identify, and Escape Causing Bodily Injury.
Moore was on parole for a 2023 conviction of Theft of Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Although his bond was set at $85,000, he is being held without release due to the parole violation.
