Terroristic Threat at Hunt County Medical Center at Commerce Leads to Arrest

COMMERCE, TX – A swift, multi-agency response led to the arrest of Mario Alberto Garcia-Enriquez following a reported terroristic threat at the Hunt County Emergency Medical Center at Commerce (2800 block of TX-24) on Thursday morning, July 10th. The facility was locked down during the incident.

The Commerce Police Department received the call at approximately 8:09 AM. Officers immediately responded, and assistance was quickly provided by the East Texas A&M Police Department, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, Hunt County Constable Precinct #2, and security personnel from Hunt Regional Medical Center.

Law enforcement agencies rapidly developed leads, with the Commerce Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division and On-Duty Officers working to gather evidence. This led them to a residence in the 1000 block of Main Street, where they located and apprehended Garcia-Enriquez, who was found hiding inside, at approximately 9:49 AM.

"I would like to thank all the law enforcement agencies that worked together flawlessly to ensure public safety and the staff at Hunt County Regional Medical Center at Commerce for their professional and prompt assistance in this case," stated Chief of Police Corley Weatherford.

Garcia-Enriquez was taken into custody for outstanding warrants and charges related to this investigation. Authorities confirm there is no further threat to the public or those involved. The investigation is ongoing.
