Brandon Furman, the Trinity County Animal Control Officer, was arrested this morning, July 1, 2025, on a warrant for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. He has been booked into the Trinity County Jail.
Allegations of sexual assault against Furman were brought to the attention of the Trinity County Sheriff's Office this morning. Due to Furman's connection to the Sheriff's Office, Trinity County Precinct 2 Constable Mark Cole was requested to lead the investigation. Furman was immediately removed from duty and placed on administrative leave.
In a joint effort, investigators from the Sheriff's Office and Constable Cole determined sufficient probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant from Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Mary Wallace. Furman was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities stated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
