Woman Stabbed Nine Times in Chandler; Suspect and Boyfriend Jailed

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred early yesterday morning in the Sportsman Paradise Subdivision, south of Chandler. A woman was reportedly stabbed multiple times and later transported to a Tyler hospital, where she is in stable condition.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, a 9-1-1 call was received at approximately 1:40 AM on June 24, reporting a female with multiple stab wounds inside a residence on the 10000 block of Paradise Circle. Deputies were informed en route that the suspect had fled the scene and the victim was being taken to a Tyler hospital.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with 57-year-old Christopher Alan Douzart of Chandler, who identified himself as the victim's boyfriend. Douzart told deputies that the victim and another female had been involved in a physical fight where a knife was used.

Investigators, including Narcotics Investigator Jonathan Barrios and Crime Scene Investigator Dawson McGee, were called to the scene to assist. Their investigation and witness interviews revealed the victim sustained approximately nine stab wounds to the left side of her body.

A search warrant for the residence, authorized by 392nd Judicial District Judge Scott McKee, led to the discovery of several baggies and scales, often associated with drug distribution, belonging to Christopher Alan Douzart. Investigators also found clear pill capsules containing suspected methamphetamine. Douzart was subsequently arrested at the scene and charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.

Investigators then secured an arrest warrant for the stabbing suspect, identified as 30-year-old Courtney Ann Coats of Chandler, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The search for Coats continued throughout the day. At around 12:45 PM, Investigators successfully located and apprehended Coats within the city limits of Athens.

Coats has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and her bond has been set at $75,000. Douzart's bond was set at $100,000. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
