Wood County investigators, accompanied by a Texas Ranger, have arrested Jared Alan Lancaster, a coach at Winnsboro ISD, for allegedly failing to report an improper relationship between another coach and a student at a Winnsboro school.
Lancaster was arrested without incident at his home in Winnsboro and booked into the Wood County Jail. He faces a charge of knowingly failing to make a required child abuse report, with his bond set at $10,000. Authorities emphasized that it is a crime to be aware of an improper relationship between a school staff member and a student and not report it to the proper agency.
This arrest comes after Nicholas Gabriele, a former teacher and assistant football coach at Winnsboro High School, was arrested earlier this month for an alleged improper relationship with a student. During that ongoing investigation, authorities discovered that Lancaster was aware of the improper relationship involving Gabriele.
The investigation into this incident continues, and the sheriff’s office has stated that more arrests are expected.
