A 16-year-old girl was arrested after allegedly stabbing a 15-year-old boy during a fight at an apartment complex last Thursday afternoon.
The incident began when several individuals became involved in a physical altercation. A 15-year-old male tried to intervene to stop the fight but was stabbed in the back and neck with a pocketknife. Witnesses on scene, along with the victim himself, identified a 16-year-old female as the suspect.
Police located the girl in a nearby apartment and arrested her for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. During the arrest, officers found a baggie of marijuana in her pants pocket, resulting in an additional charge of Possession of Marijuana. She was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and turned over to juvenile authorities.
The girl’s 31-year-old mother was also reportedly involved in the fight. During the investigation, officers learned that the woman had an active felony probation violation warrant. She was taken into custody and booked into the Bi-State Jail.
The 15-year-old victim was treated on scene by LifeNet paramedics. His injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
The case remains under investigation by local authorities.
