A 14-year-old boy was arrested last night after making a false 911 call claiming he had stabbed his wife, prompting an immediate response from police, fire, and EMS only to discover the entire story was fabricated.
Emergency services were dispatched after the call, but a vigilant dispatcher noticed inconsistencies in the boy’s story and was able to track his actual location, which was nowhere near where he claimed the incident occurred. When officers arrived at his real location, the teenager admitted he made the call because he was bored and thought it would be funny.
He was subsequently arrested and taken to a Juvenile Detention Center (JDC).
Authorities are emphasizing the serious nature of misusing emergency services. False 911 calls waste valuable time, resources, and can potentially delay help for individuals in genuine emergencies. The incident serves as a stark reminder for parents to discuss the responsible use of emergency lines with their children.
