Mount Pleasant City Manager Resigns After 2 Months on the Job

Kimberly Meeks

The City of Mount Pleasant announced today the resignation of its recently hired City Manager, Kimberly Meeks, effective immediately. Meeks, who began her tenure on March 10, 2025, cited "unexpected personal family matters out of state" as the reason for her departure.

Meeks was selected by the previous city council, ending a year-long period during which Greg Nyhoff served as Interim City Manager. The City Manager position had been vacant since Ed Thatcher's forced resignation due to indictments related to mileage reimbursements.

In her resignation letter, Meeks stated, “The past few months have been filled with new experiences, and I value all the professional relationships I’ve developed here. The City is fortunate to have such dedicated Directors with a true heart to serve.”

Candias Webster, the Assistant City Manager, will assume the role of acting city manager until further plans are announced. The city council is expected to address the appointment of an Interim City Manager and outline a recruitment plan for a new City Manager in the coming weeks.
