Mesquite Police responded to a series of high-risk incidents from the night of Saturday, May 17 into the early morning hours of Sunday, May 18, resulting in multiple arrests involving firearms, vehicle pursuits, and evading offenses.
At approximately 10:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Americana Lane following reports of three individuals shooting in the area. The suspects were seen walking toward a nearby convenience store. Officers quickly arrived and detained all three individuals inside the store. Two were found carrying pistols. All three were arrested on multiple charges, including discharging a firearm. No injuries or property damage were reported.
Later that night, a vehicle failed to yield during a traffic stop near State Spur Route IH-30 and Northwest Drive, prompting a pursuit. The chase ended after several minutes when the driver pulled over and was taken into custody. He was arrested for Evading Arrest in a Vehicle.
In the early morning hours, another vehicle fled during a traffic stop at Oates Drive and Motley Drive, leading police on a short pursuit into Dallas near Eastfield College. Two passengers exited the vehicle and ran, with one seen carrying an AR-style pistol. The driver continued briefly before surrendering. Officers established a perimeter and deployed a K9 unit, which located the armed passenger hiding beneath a parked car. The firearm was recovered at the scene.
Both the driver and the armed passenger were arrested and face multiple felony charges, including weapons violations and evading arrest.
