A Grand Saline man is in custody after leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit during which shots were fired at deputies.
On Thursday, May 15, 2025, at approximately 10:03 PM, Wood County Deputies responded to a report at the Lake Holbrook recreational area regarding a subject in possession of a stolen firearm who had allegedly brandished it at multiple individuals. There were also reports that the subject and others were discussing shooting at responding law enforcement officers.
Upon deputies' arrival, a white SUV reportedly attempted to flee, nearly striking the deputies. A vehicle pursuit ensued, and as the SUV sped away, a suspect inside allegedly fired approximately seven rounds at the pursuing deputies.
Deputies continued the pursuit, with assistance from numerous other law enforcement agencies. The chase ended in the city of Grand Saline, where the occupants of the vehicle abandoned it and fled into a residence. Three individuals were taken into custody at the residence; however, one suspect was not initially located.
Warrants were obtained for the outstanding suspect, identified as 19-year-old Connor Lane Scott of Grand Saline, TX. The warrants included two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon against a Peace Officer and evading arrest or detention.
The Grand Saline Police Department apprehended Connor Scott on the morning of Friday, May 16, 2025, and he was transported to the Wood County Justice Center.
Authorities have not reported any injuries to law enforcement officers. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
