Former Wylie Youth Soccer Treasurer Arrested for $300,000+ Theft

Wylie Police have arrested a former treasurer of the Wylie Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) for allegedly stealing over $300,000 from the organization. On Monday, May 12th, Wylie detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 37-year-old Midlothian resident, John Freeman, charging him with Theft of Property >=$300,000, a felony offense.

The arrest follows an investigation that began on January 27th, 2025, after WYSA reported observing suspicious transactions in their QuickBooks account in August 2024. A subsequent investigation and audit of the association's finances revealed hundreds of unauthorized transactions totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars, dating back from October 2019 to August 2024.

Based on the financial documentation, Wylie detectives secured an arrest warrant for Freeman. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Wylie Jail.
