The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office has issued a public statement addressing recent rumors circulating on social media regarding the jail kitchen and the feeding of inmates.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the jail's kitchen facility is temporarily closed due to an ongoing remodeling and construction project. However, they emphasized that a fully operational temporary kitchen was immediately set up to ensure uninterrupted meal service.
According to the statement, inmates are continuing to receive daily meals prepared by other inmates, following a menu developed by a licensed dietitian. The Sheriff’s Office assures the public that these meals fully comply with the nutritional and meal service requirements set forth by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS).
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the concern for incarcerated individuals but stated that the claim that inmates are not being fed is "completely false and unnecessarily inflammatory." They expressed that such misinformation undermines public trust in law enforcement.
The statement reiterated the Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to the proper care of those in their custody, ensuring that meals meet all daily nutritional requirements as mandated by TCJS and are provided consistently. They thanked the public for their continued trust and support and affirmed their dedication to transparency and professionalism.
