Juvenile Suspect Identified After Foot Pursuit and Attempted Vehicle Theft in Jasper

On April 26, 2025, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Sgt. Chris Wade with the Jasper County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Texas Timber Jack in Jasper following a report of criminal trespass and a possible theft in progress.

A witness had reported seeing a male jump a chain link fence and enter the property. As Sgt. Wade arrived, the suspect began fleeing on foot. A Jasper Police Department officer responding to assist spotted the individual behind Harbor Hospice, but the suspect ran into a wooded area within a nearby residential neighborhood.

Additional officers from Jasper PD and troopers from Texas DPS responded to assist. Jasper PD deployed a K9 unit, but despite search efforts, the suspect was not immediately located. Witnesses provided identification, and officers have since positively identified the suspect as a juvenile. His name will not be released due to his age.

Investigators determined that the juvenile attempted to steal a vehicle and a forklift. Warrants are being obtained for two counts of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Trespass, and Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot.

Authorities thanked Jasper PD, the Jasper Police K9 Unit, Texas DPS, and Allegiance EMS for their assistance and readiness during the incident.
