Terry Lawson of Canton, Texas, was arrested on multiple felony charges following a traffic stop on February 26, 2025, in Van Zandt County.
The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office Drug Interdiction Team conducted the traffic stop near the 24000 block of FM 47. During a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered suspected marijuana, suspected methamphetamine, and a firearm.
Lawson, the driver, was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of methamphetamine (felony)
- Possession of marijuana (felony)
- Unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon (felony)
Lawson was booked into the Van Zandt County Detention Center and later released on bond.
The case remains under investigation, and Lawson is considered innocent until proven guilty.
Sheriff Bridger stated, "we have a renewed emphasis on stopping illicit drugs in Van Zandt County and having a Drug Interdiction Team is just the first step."
