On January 24, 2025, at approximately 5:03 p.m., Wylie Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on Ewing Way in the Southfork Mobile Home Community. Upon arrival, neighbors alerted firefighters that the structure might be occupied, with individuals potentially trapped inside.
Firefighters conducted an immediate search and rescue but tragically recovered the bodies of two deceased individuals. Additional units from the Murphy and Parker Fire Departments assisted, with a total of 31 firefighters on the scene. The fire was extinguished by 5:18 p.m.
The Wylie Fire Marshal’s Office and Wylie Police Department are investigating the fire's cause, which is believed to have been accidental. The Collin County Medical Examiner will determine the victims' cause of death.
The family has identified the deceased, and no other individuals were inside the home at the time of the fire. The structure suffered a total loss, and it is unclear whether working smoke alarms were present.
