On Thursday, Paris Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the 2900 block of Lamar Avenue for a moving violation. After activating their overhead lights, officers observed the driver making unusual movements before continuing to drive west on Lamar. The driver only came to a stop after officers activated their siren.
Officers identified the driver as Chad Dewayne Anderson, 49, and a female passenger, both of whom appeared nervous during the interaction. Officers requested both individuals exit the vehicle.
During a search of the car, officers discovered narcotics on the floorboard near Anderson's feet. Both Anderson and the passenger denied knowledge of the drugs. Anderson was arrested at the scene and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a felony.
At Anderson's request, the passenger was released with the vehicle.
