Teen Arrested After High-Speed Chase, Stolen SUV, and Multiple Charges in Crockett

Jonathan Zuckero

On January 1, 2025, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Crockett night patrol officers responded to a chaotic scene involving a stolen vehicle, a utility pole crash, and a high-speed chase that led to the arrest of 18-year-old Jonathan Zuckero of Crockett.

The incident began when officers heard a loud crash near E Clark Ave. Shortly after, they spotted a white SUV leaving the area and colliding with a trash can. Attempts to initiate a traffic stop were unsuccessful, resulting in a pursuit.

The chase ended when Zuckero lost control of the stolen SUV, crashing into a utility pole on E Bonham Ave. He exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended about a block away. Upon his arrest, officers found Xanax in his possession that was not prescribed to him.

Further investigation revealed that the SUV had been stolen overnight from a local business. Inside the vehicle, officers also discovered a handgun. It was confirmed that the earlier loud crash was the SUV hitting the utility pole on E Clark Ave.

Zuckero was transported to the Houston County Jail and charged with the following offenses:

  • Duty of Striking Structure, Fixture, or Highway Landscaping (Hit and Run) (Class B Misdemeanor)
  • Unlawful Carrying Weapons (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Possession of Controlled Substance PG 3 <28 Grams (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Unauthorized Use of Vehicle (State Jail Felony)
  • Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle (3rd Degree Felony)

Later that morning, day shift officers received a report of a vehicle burglary on S 10th St. Surveillance footage identified Zuckero as the suspect who entered the vehicle and stole items overnight. Some of the stolen property was recovered at a residence where Zuckero had been staying.

He was subsequently charged with an additional offense:

  • Burglary of a Vehicle (Class A Misdemeanor)

Zuckero remains in custody at the Houston County Jail as the investigation continues.
