On December 24, 2024, Center Police officers arrested 26-year-old Mtwakil Ibhrmie Saeed and 40-year-old Alicia Jackson Petite in connection to the death of Petite’s boyfriend, 36-year-old Cordero Wyatt. Saeed was charged with first-degree murder, and Petite was charged with tampering with evidence.
The investigation began when a woman called dispatch reporting that her son, Wyatt, was at Petite's home but had not been answering his phone. When officers contacted Petite, she stated Wyatt had been at her residence but was picked up by friends. Petite allowed officers to search her home, where they discovered some of Wyatt’s belongings, including his cellphone.
Further investigation revealed that Saeed had been at Petite's home when Wyatt arrived and allegedly shot him multiple times. Wyatt’s body was later found in a nearby field.
