Wood County Deputies Respond to Multiple Incidents, Including Theft, Assaults, and Drug Arrests

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office responded to a variety of incidents between December 4 and December 10, 2024, including theft, assault, and drug-related offenses.

On December 4, deputies responded to a warrant situation on County Road 2121, where parole officers confirmed the subject's warrant would be dismissed due to technical issues with their ankle monitor. Later that day, Corporal Croney investigated an assault on County Road 3459, where a victim reported their child’s parent forcibly took their child, resulting in an injury. The victim did not wish to pursue charges. A disturbance was also reported, with a caller stating her son had been threatened by individuals in a van outside her residence.

On December 5, Deputy Whisenhunt responded to a terroristic threat on FM 2869, where a homeowner allegedly pointed a firearm at a contractor during an argument. The incident was documented in an offense report. Corporal Rich and Deputy Beck investigated an assault involving a father and son, with the case forwarded for further investigation.

Traffic stops and drug-related incidents were reported on December 6. Lt Milbourn conducted a stop after observing a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road, leading to the arrest of Scott Ward for possession of marijuana and a controlled substance. Later that day, deputies responded to a stolen vehicle call on Private Road 8693 and found the vehicle; however, the owner declined to pursue charges.

December 7 saw a welfare check in which deputies responded to a suicidal subject who had been drinking. The subject was transported by EMS for treatment. Sgt Mayer and Corporal Burdick investigated suspicious activity involving a male subject who was found with fraudulent IDs and marijuana, resulting in an arrest.

On December 8, Deputy Smith investigated a burglary case in which a stolen U-Haul truck was found abandoned near the scene. Sgt Cox also took an assault report involving a phone altercation, while Deputy Smith continued investigating possible stolen property.

December 9 featured multiple arrests, including Dallas Hooks, who was taken into custody on an active warrant. Deputy Beck also located a stolen vehicle in Yantis during a building check, confirming the vehicle's status.

Finally, on December 10, deputies responded to criminal mischief and a suspicious drone incident on County Road 1600 and 1610, respectively. A child injury case was also reported, with the mother suspected of assaulting the child. The case will be forwarded for further investigation.
