On Tuesday, December 9th, Wood County Deputies arrested 39-year-old Kattie Jean Steele of Winnsboro on charges of theft after allegedly stealing more than $48,000 worth of pipe from her husband's business.
Investigators began the inquiry after a witness reported seeing Steele hauling the pipe away from the company, which had been divided between owners following her husband's bankruptcy filing. Steele’s husband denied any involvement in the missing pipe.
Steele was arrested and charged with Theft of Property valued between $30,000 and $150,000. Her bond was set at $15,000.
