Officer Mitchell Attaway of the Rockwall Police Department was recognized at the December 2, 2024, Rockwall City Council meeting for his heroic actions in saving the life of a victim of a violent family assault.
The incident occurred on September 27, when Officer Attaway responded to a critical situation involving a severe neck injury. The victim, present at the award presentation, had suffered a life-threatening cut. Attaway acted swiftly, providing life-saving care to stop significant blood loss and stabilize the victim before EMS arrived.
In recognition of his courage and decisive actions, the City of Rockwall awarded Attaway the Life-Saving Award during Monday's council meeting. Attaway, who has served with the Rockwall Police Department since October 2020, was commended for his calm demeanor and dedication to community safety.
Rockwall officials praised Attaway, stating, “His heroic efforts in the face of danger truly exemplify courage and dedication to protecting our community.”
