Traffic Stop on I-30 Leads to Discovery of 96 Pounds of Marijuana, Three Arrested

In the early hours of Monday, December 2, 2024, just before 3:00 a.m., Fate Police Officer C. Pippin conducted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle at the 74-mile marker of Interstate 30 for a minor violation. The stop led to the discovery of 96 pounds of marijuana concealed in suitcases inside the vehicle.

The investigation was aided by the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit, which alerted officers to the presence of drugs. The marijuana was seized, and the vehicle was impounded.

The vehicle's three occupants were arrested at the scene. They have been identified as:

  • Brandon Keiser Gonzalez, of Los Angeles, California
  • Francis Andrews, of Los Angeles, California
  • Charles Cowart, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Each suspect’s bond has been set at $100,000.

The Fate Police Department praised the efforts of Officer Pippin and the collaboration with the K-9 unit, emphasizing the importance of keeping drugs out of the community.
