42-year-old Steven Joe Clowdus of Kemp has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after being found guilty of the murder of Jimmy Dean Oldfield, a missing person whose body was discovered in a hand-dug grave in 2022.

On May 26, 2022, authorities responded to a property off Highway 85 near Seven Points, where they discovered Oldfield's truck, which had been disassembled into several pieces, and a grave containing his remains. Oldfield had been reported missing earlier that month, with the sheriff's office receiving notification on May 15.

Clowdus was convicted of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and intent to impair a human corpse. He received 50-year sentences for each charge, which will be served concurrently in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Two additional suspects, William David Hux and Dalan Clowdus, are awaiting trial. Hux faces charges of engaging in organized criminal activity with intent to murder and tampering with evidence. Dalan Clowdus is charged with engaging in organized criminal activity with intent to murder, tampering with evidence, and intent to impair a human corpse.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to pursue justice for Oldfield.
