A September overdose death investigation has led to the arrest of 31-year-old William Randall May, following a joint operation by multiple law enforcement agencies.

The Texarkana Police Department, investigating the overdose, received information about drug activity at a residence in the 2400 block of Laurel Street in Texarkana, Arkansas. Acting on the tip, the 8th South Drug Task Force—which includes the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department and the Miller County Sheriff’s Office—executed a search warrant at the home.

Authorities discovered 60.1 grams of methamphetamine and 138 grams of marijuana during the search. Although the residence was unoccupied at the time, investigators identified May as the primary resident, prompting Arkansas authorities to issue arrest warrants.

Subsequent investigation revealed that May had relocated to the 4000 block of Colorado Street in Texarkana, Texas. On November 5, investigators conducting surveillance observed May leaving the new residence. A traffic stop in the 5000 block of N. Stateline led to May’s arrest. He was found in possession of a small quantity of drugs and was transported to the Miller County Jail on his Arkansas warrants.

Following May’s arrest, investigators obtained a search warrant for his Colorado Street residence. The search uncovered a large-scale drug operation, resulting in the seizure of:

  • 83 pounds of marijuana
  • Approximately 1 pound of methamphetamine
  • 1/2 pound of cocaine
  • Several grams of Hydrocodone and Xanax pills
  • THC vape cartridges
  • Psilocybin candy
  • Several firearms

May remains in the Miller County Jail, facing numerous drug charges in Arkansas, while additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.

Law enforcement emphasized the unique challenges of investigating crimes in Texarkana, a city split between two states, but praised the cooperation among agencies in dismantling May’s operation and ensuring the community’s safety.
