On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Prosper Police Officers were dispatched to a retail store after reports of a theft in progress. A loss prevention employee noticed a suspect removing security tags from merchandise and stuffing the items into two large suitcases.
The employee monitored the suspect’s actions and contacted police, providing a detailed description. The suspect left the store with the suitcases, bypassing all points of sale. The merchandise inside was valued at $3,757.
Officers arrived as the suspect exited the store and attempted to detain them. The suspect tried to flee on foot but was apprehended a short distance from the scene after a brief pursuit.
Upon investigation, officers confirmed the stolen merchandise had been taken from the store, and it was fully recovered. Police also learned the suspect, who does not reside in Prosper, had an active warrant for theft.
The suspect was arrested on charges of Theft of Property valued between $2,500 and $30,000, a state jail felony. They were transported to the Collin County Jail for booking.
