On October 19, 2024, Harrison County deputies responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Cedar Ridge Rd regarding a male family member, later identified as 27-year-old Cortez Latravius Smith of Longview, who was reported to be yelling in the street while dressed only in his underwear. Concerned neighbors also notified authorities about the situation.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered that Cortez Smith had left the area. However, they were later called back to the residence when he returned to the original location. Deputies attempted to investigate the incident, but Smith was reportedly belligerent and interfered with their duties.
As a result, Cortez Smith was arrested and transported to Harrison County Jail, where he faces charges for interference with public duties.
