Wood County Sheriff's Office Reports Multiple Incidents in Weekly Summary

The Wood County Sheriff's Office released its weekly media report covering the period from June 7 to June 13, detailing various incidents and law enforcement actions.

On June 7, Corporal Cooper took a violation of bond conditions report from a victim who claimed her ex-husband had come to her residence against his bond conditions. An offense report was filed in response to the complaint.

Deputy Way initiated a routine traffic stop on Hwy 11 after noticing a vehicle with a faulty taillight. During the stop, it was discovered that the driver did not possess a valid license and had an active warrant for an invalid license. Consequently, the driver, identified as Christopher Beckham, was arrested for the outstanding warrant.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office also provided assistance to the Winnsboro Police Department on June 7. Deputies Hughes and Way collaborated with local officers to locate and apprehend a wanted individual.

The following day, on June 8, Sgt Morrison and Deputy Croney executed a warrant service on County Road 3803, resulting in the arrest of Mark Mcgowen for an outstanding warrant.

Deputies Croney and Whisenhunt assisted the Mineola Police Department on a search warrant operation, during which stolen items were discovered. Jerry Cotton was arrested on a Mineola PD warrant as a result.

In a separate incident on June 8, Sgt Sepulvado conducted a warrant service at Adult Probation and arrested Joseph Simonek for an outstanding warrant.

Deputy Whisenhunt responded to a theft report on County Road 1600, where the victim reported a break-in at her trailer and the theft of several items. However, no serial numbers were provided for the missing items.

Lt Milbourn and Sgt Morrison initiated a traffic stop in Quitman on June 8. The driver of the vehicle, Joshua Lindley, was found to have an active warrant and was subsequently arrested.

Deputy Way was dispatched to Lake Winnsboro on June 8 to address a disturbance complaint. According to the victim, someone had thrown items at her vehicle, resulting in a broken window. The victim expressed a desire to pursue charges in the matter.

On June 9, Corporal Baldwin responded to an assault in Yantis, where the victim reported a physical altercation with another store clerk stemming from rumors. The victim sustained minor injuries and expressed a desire to press charges.

Deputy Skinner conducted a security check in Holly Lake Ranch on June 9 and encountered PJ Emerson, who had an active warrant. When Deputy Skinner attempted to approach Emerson, the suspect retreated into his residence but later emerged and was subsequently taken into custody.

Deputy Kovic was dispatched to investigate a burglary report on June 9. The property owner stated that someone had broken into their camper, although no items were reported missing. The case was referred to the investigations unit.

Corporal Burdick handled a theft report via phone on June 9. The caller reported sending money through CashApp for the purchase of an animal but never receiving the purchased item. An offense report was filed to document the incident.

Deputy Kovic responded to a theft report at Lake Fork Marina on June 10, where it was discovered that depth finders had been stolen from multiple boats during the night.

On the same day, Corporal Baldwin and Deputy Skinner were dispatched to address an animal complaint on FM 14. The caller reported the sighting of two alligators while her son was fishing under a bridge. The deputies assisted in retrieving the fishing equipment that had been left behind.

Deputy Hughes was dispatched to investigate an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (UUMV) on County Road 4450 on June 10. The vehicle owner reported that their sister had taken their car to California without permission. An incident report was filed in response to the incident.

Corporal Burdick discovered a wrecked vehicle on the side of FM 515 on June 10. Inside the vehicle, an open container was found. After locating the driver, Jill Sandell, a standardized field sobriety test (SFST) was administered, leading to her arrest for driving while intoxicated (DWI).

On June 11, Lieutenant Milbourn, Corporal Burdick, and Deputy Rapp were dispatched to a shots fired incident at Lake Holbrook. However, upon arrival, all suspects had fled the scene. Witnesses reported multiple individuals possibly involved, including one person believed to have discharged a firearm. No gunshot wound victims were found at nearby hospitals.

Sgt Mayer responded to a call involving a suicidal subject in Holly Lake Ranch on June 11. Upon arrival, Sgt Mayer observed the subject holding a knife and self-inflicting wounds. Mayer successfully disarmed the individual and ensured they received appropriate medical attention.

Sgt Mayer was dispatched to a stolen vehicle report on FM 2869 on June 11. The victim provided information about a female suspect and a possible location. However, upon arriving at the suspect's residence, a friend informed the officers that someone else had taken the vehicle. Detailed information about the stolen vehicle was not available.

On June 12, Deputy Pollard responded to a burglary report in Yantis. The business owner reported that someone had forced entry through the back door of her restaurant and stolen money. The owner identified a possible suspect who admitted to having one of the missing items. The case was transferred to the investigations unit for further action.

Corporal Cooper took an assault report on June 12, where the victim alleged that her husband, who had drug-related issues, had thrown a knife at her during an argument. The case was referred to the investigations unit for further investigation.

Deputy Way received a report of criminal mischief by phone on June 12. The caller stated that her neighbor had informed her that someone had cut the chain off her gate. No individuals were found on the property, and no items were reported missing.

Corporal Rapp was dispatched to a potential suicidal subject on June 12. The caller expressed concern about her daughter, who had consumed alcohol and was experiencing hallucinations. Although the victim did not make any suicidal statements while the deputies were present, appropriate measures were taken to ensure her safety.

On June 13, Deputy Croney executed a warrant service at Adult Probation and arrested Shane Turlington for an outstanding warrant.

Deputy Pollard responded to a theft call on County Road 1410 on June 13. The victim reported that her vehicle had been broken into, and two firearms were stolen. Further investigation revealed a list of multiple residences the suspects planned to target. The area was subsequently placed under increased police patrol.

Lt Milbourn and Deputy Croney were dispatched to a 911 hang-up call on County Road 2460 on June 13. Upon arrival, it was discovered that two juveniles had overturned on a four-wheeler, sustaining minor injuries. One of the juveniles was transported for medical treatment.

Sgt Morrison and Corporal Cooper responded to a disturbance on County Road 2280 on June 13. The incident involved two brothers engaged in a physical altercation, with one of them throwing an object that struck his brother, causing an abrasion under his eye. Heath Matthews was arrested for assault in relation to the incident.

Sgt Williams and Deputy Way were called to address a disturbance on County Road 1917 on June 13. The property owners reported that their son had vandalized their truck, shattering all the windows. However, at the time of the report, the parents had not pressed charges.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office continues to diligently investigate these incidents and ensure the safety and security of the community.
