Hughes Springs Police Investigate Series of Overnight Vehicle Burglaries, Urge Community Vigilance

The Hughes Springs Police Department is investigating multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred overnight between August 10 and the early morning hours of August 11, 2024, in and around the City of Hughes Springs. The burglaries took place during the hours of darkness and appear to have been committed by individuals traveling on foot.

The Hughes Springs Police Department is asking residents to be vigilant, especially at night, and to report any suspicious individuals in their neighborhoods immediately. They also urge anyone with security cameras to review footage from the night of August 10 and early morning of August 11 for any suspicious activity and to contact the department with any relevant information.

The department highlighted the importance of community involvement in crime prevention, advising residents to remove valuables from their vehicles, especially money and firearms, and to ensure that vehicles are secured at all times.

"The Hughes Springs Police Department works tirelessly in an effort to make and keep 'our' community a safe place to live, work, and visit. We at the Hughes Springs Police Department take these types of crimes very seriously and will work to hold the individuals involved accountable," said Chief of Police Anthony Harrison.
