Paris City Council Appoints Mickey Ellis to District Two Council Seat

During a special meeting held last Tuesday night, the Paris City Council made a significant decision by appointing Mickey Ellis to the vacant District Two council seat. The council had five qualified applicants submit their names before the June 28 deadline, including Ellis, Christopher Dux, Leslie Flynn, Kelvin Hicks, and Samantha Hughes.

In a closed session, the City Council conducted interviews with Ellis and the other applicants present at the meeting. Following deliberations, the council returned to an open session and unanimously voted to appoint Ellis.

Mickey Ellis, currently the Pastor of Paris First Assembly of God Church and a resident of West Washington Street, has been a resident of District Two for over 12 years. He steps into the role following the resignation of Reginald Hughes in May. Ellis's appointment is to fulfill the remainder of Hughes's term, which will conclude in May 2026. After that, Ellis will have the option to run for election to retain the seat.
