Mother and Son Arrested for Murder in Polk County Shooting

On the evening of Saturday, June 15, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting in the 500 block of Wilson Lake Estates Road, Polk County. Deputies and Detectives responded swiftly to the scene, accompanied by EMS and the Segno Fire Department.

Upon arrival, Detectives found a deceased female, identified as 38-year-old Jillian Rasnick from West Virginia, who had suffered a gunshot wound. The investigation revealed that a verbal altercation between the victim and a homeowner led to the shooting. Authorities confirmed that the public was never in any danger.

Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, Terri Mayer, conducted an inquest and ordered an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing, conducted by Detectives from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office with support from the Polk County District Attorney’s Office, the Texas Rangers Office, and the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation resulted in the arrests of mother and son, Robin P. Crum, 65, and Christopher Lynn Crum, 46, both from Livingston, Texas. On Friday, June 21, 2024, both were charged with Felony Murder in connection with Jillian Rasnick’s death and are currently held on bond in the Polk County Jail.
