Late Saturday night, on June 8, 2024, the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) rushed to assist the Beaumont Independent School District Police Department (BISD PD) following reports of a serious altercation at Fuma Dubai Lounge & Grill, situated at 4438 Dowlen.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a chaotic scene involving armed suspects. BISD PD had already used pepper spray to subdue the situation, with one suspect attempting to seize an officer's firearm.
During the ensuing attempt to apprehend the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Keadrain Corbin of Beaumont, he resisted arrest by assaulting a BPD officer. Corbin was subsequently arrested on charges of attempting to disarm a police officer, assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest.
Furthermore, BISD PD arrested two more individuals: 26-year-old Jonah Mitchell and 18-year-old Kito Simpson, both residents of the area, for unlawfully carrying weapons.
Law enforcement confiscated two firearms from the scene, with investigations still ongoing.
The injured BPD officer received medical treatment at a local hospital and was discharged after several hours.
