Zacchaeus Henderson, aged 21, has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the slaying of Desmond Smith in September 2021. A Kaufman County Jury sentenced Henderson to 60 years in the Texas Penitentiary.
Desmond Smith, 22, was lured to the North Forney High School parking lot during the late hours of the night by Henderson and two other members of a small Dallas street gang. They falsely claimed Smith would meet a female. However, upon arrival, the assailants swiftly exited their vehicle and fired 26 shots at Smith, leading to his tragic death.
Smith left behind a daughter, now five years old, who was asleep at home just a few hundred yards away during the incident.
