Lamar County Man Receives 28 Year Prison Sentence for Assaulting Minor

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, Stephen Riley King, 34, of Blossom, Texas, pleaded guilty to three counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and one count of Indecency with a Child.  Then the Lamar County jury senteced him to 20 years and 8 years in prison on two counts.

The case stems from a May 2023 incident where King befriended a 16 year old girl on Snapchat and then discussed taking drugs with her.

After she agreed to meet him, King picked her up from her house around 2:00 in the morning, provided her with marijuana, and drove to the La Quinta Hotel in Paris.

After getting a room, King sexually assaulted the girl twice by force The girl testified that she tried to defend herself by scratching his back to make him stop, but he held her down by the throat.

King later fled the state after leaving a note saying he was being framed and was ultimately arrested in Kansas.

The judge ordered the sentences to run consecutively, which result in a total of 28 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation. King will be eligible for release on parole after serving at least half of each sentence and must register as a sex offender for life.
