Repeat Offender Convicted: Dallas Man Faces Decade in Prison for Felony Theft

Larry Lee Davis

Dallas resident Larry Lee Davis, 61, was convicted of felony theft of property on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, by a Rockwall County jury. Despite having a history of 30 separate theft-related convictions, Davis was found guilty and sentenced to a decade in prison by District Judge David E. Rakow.

Lead prosecutor Julien Tagnon presented evidence to the jury, revealing that Davis had purchased four leaf blowers from Four Brothers Outdoor Power business in Royse City on June 29, 2022, using a fraudulent check. When the check was discovered to be drawn on a fictitious account, Davis failed to return the property or pay for the items. Testimonies from Royse City Police Department Officer Walter Wawra and Detective Steve Tigert detailed their investigation leading to Davis's arrest.

Further investigation into Davis's background unveiled an extensive criminal history, including a federal conviction for Equity Skimming, Organized Criminal Activity, and nearly 30 separate offenses of theft and fraud dating back to the mid-1980s.

Assistant District Attorney Julien Tagnon emphasized the jury's message against stealing from businesses, stating, "The jury today sent a strong message that stealing from businesses, whether large or small, will not be tolerated in Rockwall County." Tagnon praised the collaborative effort between law enforcement, Four Brothers, and American National Bank of Texas, which facilitated Davis's successful prosecution.
