Crockett Police Respond to Vandalism and Unauthorized Vehicle Use Incident

On May 11, 2024, Crockett Police Department officers were dispatched to a business located in the 100 block of East Goliad Avenue following reports of vandalism and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the business owner, who informed them of damage to the building and the unauthorized use of a company vehicle. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect as Jordan Rayshad Strange, 19, from Crockett. The recordings captured Strange approaching the property around 2:50 a.m. and driving off with the company's truck. However, he returned the vehicle approximately 10 minutes later, colliding with the building during the process.

Subsequently, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Strange on charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, classified as a State Jail Felony. On May 14, 2024, a patrol officer encountered Strange walking on East Bowie Avenue near SL 304 and took him into custody. Notably, Strange was found in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest. Furthermore, during processing at the Houston County Jail, suspected hydrocodone pills were discovered concealed on his person.

In addition to the initial warrant, Strange faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 <28 Grams, categorized as a Class A Misdemeanor, and Prohibited Substance/Item in a Correctional Facility, a 3rd Degree Felony. Authorities indicate that further charges may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.
