Paris Police Apprehend Suspects at Army Reserve Center, Uncover Drugs and Stolen Checks

Paris Police officers responded to a call at the U.S. Army Reserve Center at the 1300 block of SE 24on Tuesday, May 14, regarding somone being inside the building.

Upon arrival, officers located Devonte Demond Williams, 24, and Kayla Nicole Clavier, 18, inside the building. The officer confronted the pair, but they fled on foot.  After a pursuit, officers captured both of them.  

Williams and Clavier were charged with Criminal Trespassing and Evading Arrest.

During a search of the premises, officers discovered a black bag belonging to Williams containing methamphetamine, a stolen checkbook, and checks pilfered from a local business the previous week. Additionally, a forged check payable to Williams for $400.00 was found.

Williams faces additional charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance, Forgery of a Financial Instrument, and Stealing or receiving Stolen Property. Both suspects were booked into Lamar County Jail.
