On May 9, 2024, Henderson County K-9 Deputy David Robertson conducted a traffic stop in the Eustace area due to a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 29-year-old Courtney Janae Dawson from Malakoff.
During the stop, Dawson was found to be in possession of suspected cocaine. She was subsequently transported to the Henderson County Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 over 4 grams but less than 200 grams, a First-Degree Felony, as well as Tamper or Fabricate Physical Evidence, a Third-Degree Felony.
A First Degree Felony carries a punishment of up to 99 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and up to a $10,000 dollar fine.
