Mount Pleasant High School Senior Earns OSHA 30 Certification

Osmar Galindo with MPHS Electrical instructor Tim Davis

Mount Pleasant High School's Electrical Technology senior, Osmar Galindo, has achieved a significant milestone by completing his OSHA 30 certification. Despite typically pursued by adults, Galindo independently undertook the 30-hour course over the summer. Offered by the U.S. Department of Labor, the OSHA 30-hour card is a testament to an individual's grasp of workplace safety and understanding of worker rights, enhancing their employability.

Covering over 90 topics, the course is segmented with exams at the end of each. Galindo faced the challenge of having to restart the program after failing an exam thrice. However, with perseverance, he successfully navigated through each segment, securing his certification with an 89 on the final exam.

Tim Davis, Galindo's instructor in MPHS Electrical Technology, praised his initiative, highlighting the rarity of students dedicating their summer breaks to such endeavors. Galindo's aspirations are ambitious; he intends to pursue further education at Texas State Technical College in Marshall, aiming to become a Master Electrician and eventually establish his own electrical company.
