Freestone County Sheriff's Office launched a criminal investigation following allegations of child abuse involving methamphetamine exposure. Sgt. Weinmann spearheaded the investigation, which resulted in the issuance of felony warrants for an adult male and an adult female. The charges include Injury to a Child and Endangering a Child.
Sgt. Darby and Constable McGowan safely apprehended both suspects without incident. A subsequent search of the suspects' residence uncovered over 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. This led to additional charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Further complicating the case, Sgt. Weinmann discovered that the suspects attempted to coerce one of the victims into recanting their statement. As a result, both suspects face additional charges of Tampering with a Witness and False Statement to a Peace Officer.
The investigation remains ongoing, with the possibility of additional charges. Child Protective Services is also involved in the case.
