Paris Emergency Medical Services, Fire Department, and Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle accident on Tuesday night, April 30, at approximately 9:11 PM. The incident, located in the 600 block of Evergreen Street and SE 6th, involved a collision between a Nissan Rogue and a bicyclist, resulting in injury.
Upon arrival, EMS and Fire personnel administered life-saving medical procedures to the bicyclist, who sustained a head injury. The individual was then transported to Paris Regional Health, where, unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries.
At the scene, authorities identified the driver of the Nissan Rogue as 44-year-old Cory Wayne Luck. Mr. Luck displayed signs of impairment, including slurred speech and unsteady balance. Despite repeated requests, he refused to undergo the Standardized Field Sobriety Test.
Cory Wayne Luck was arrested and booked into the Paris Jail on charges of Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle.
UPDATE: After an investigations from the Accident Reconstruction Team, the charges against Luck have been reduced to DWI - 2nd.
