A Paris firefighter sustained injuries during efforts to contain a structure fire at the Patio Apartments on 510 Bonham Street early Tuesday, April 30. The incident took place inside the engulfed structure when a section of the second floor where the firefighter was operating collapsed.
Fellow firefighters swiftly rescued the injured firefighter from the scene. Emergency medical services provided on-site treatment before transferring the firefighter to Paris Regional Health via ambulance. The firefighter's condition is currently stable, and they remain hospitalized for observation.
Emergency responders, including personnel from the Paris Fire Department, EMS, and Police, were dispatched to the scene shortly after midnight. Firefighting operations concluded by 2 a.m. The fire inflicted significant damage to the apartments, and an investigation into the cause is ongoing.
